Identity Design
Or Corporate Identity is the face you put forward, usually in print, in the form of logos, business cards,
letterhead, and other materials. Give you or your client an identity makeover with tips and tutorials for
logos, letterhead, business cards and other corporate identity elements.
Types of identity systems include logos, letterhead, and business cards, and spills over into other areas
such as business forms, brochures, and signage as well.
Logos
Logo's are symbols and/or type that help to quickly, visually identify a company or
organization. They are used in almost all printed materials a company produces and
along with color and basic design elements reinforce an organization's identity and
name or brand awareness.

I like to sit down with a client to find out
everything I can about the company, product
or service. By researching the history of the
company I'm able to find "reference terms"
that help in the development of the logo.
My old logo is a good starting point. At the time
it was developed, Black & Red were (and still
are) considered "power colors", demanding
authority and attention. Times and trends
change, so it's time for a new logo.
I wanted a logo that incorporated the three
letters in my company name, "g, c and d.
With that in mind I set out to find the perfect
combination of shapes, forms and fonts. In the
diagram here I found that if I stayed with my
original font of AvantGarde, I could chop it up
and get all three letters out of the font.
In all, from the original concept, sketches and a
lot of revisions, it took me about four days to
come up with the look I wanted. The only thing
left was Color and I've always wanted to use
"Lapis Blue" in something. I got my wish.

The form of the "G" is my new brand, my identity. It will define all that I do and in time it will be
recognized as it appears on my designs, artwork and photography.
For (12) twelve to (16) sixteen months I will leave the name of my company, under and/or to the side
during an identification stage.
Once I am sure that people will recognize my logo on its own without my signature or company
name... I will have accomplished
what I set out to do...
CREATE AN IDENTITY, A BRAND, DEFINED BY ONE LETTER.
This is more of a re-branding of my logo, than actual logo development, but the concept is the same.
What I've found out in the past is RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, will pay off 10 fold. Looking
back into the company history lights up my creative spirit... From which I develop my idea's.
I've only put a few examples of logos I've developed in the past. Other examples of my logos can be
found on my DESIGN page, along with a few print advertisements I created
